How did you hear about educogym®?
Every morning going to work I drove by the educogym® on Gallery Quay. I had been a member of a number of gyms around town, and I had heard and read a little bit about educogym®, but it was two months until I actually walked in and met with the Manager, Joe O’Sullivan. I had no idea at the time how much this meeting was going to impact on my life.
Before educogym®, what was your attitude to the health and fitness industry?
When I had signed up with gyms in the past, I would go in, have the first consultation and they’d give me a tour, an off-the-shelf workout, a “best of luck” wish and that was pretty much it. What really inspired me to take up educogym® was the promise, from the start, of a continuous check-up system to monitor my progress. Most gyms say they will do that but educogym® were practically religious in their practice of it.
How did the personal approach in educogym® affect your training?
I was surprised by the difference of approach at educogym®. Joe sat me down and we discussed why nutrition is an integral part of any health and fitness programme. I came away from that meeting thinking that this was a regime I could take on board as a whole change of life. On my second visit I met my trainer, Michal Rupinski. Michal had literally done what I was doing six months prior to me and at our first work-out session I was blown away by his enthusiasm and energy. The sceptical side of me thought this was part of the ‘first service’ you get from any gym, but I can honestly say, to this day, Michal has stood over me one hundred per cent and has had the same enthusiasm and energy that he had from day one.
What results did you achieve?
I wasn’t in bad shape, but I lacked any kind of definition. I was 29 when I first joined educogym® and things were starting to slope and sag and the belly was on its way. When my waist size was measured I was surprised – it was
34 inches. Now, my waist is 30½ inches, I’ve added muscle-tone all over the body and have built up muscle in all of the right areas. I have a body now that I thought was reserved for men in their early twenties. It has helped my mind as well as looking good on the outside automatically feeds the mind with a feel-good factor.
How has educogym® impacted on other areas of your life?
I was getting into a rut where I was accepting that as you get older you start getting a bit heavy and slowing down, but the more I went to the gym, the more I exercised, the nutritional programme, the more energy I had, and the feel-good factor that came with that was absolutely astonishing. I felt that my time with the property investment business had drawn to a close so I sold up shop, worked out really hard over the summer and now I’m going to join Thurston Pym who is heading up the expansion in LA.
What are your plans when youget to LA?
My plan for when I arrive in LA is to get in at grassroots level and see how the whole operation starts up before the doors even open. I’ll be working as a trainer in the gym with Thurston, and after that I hope to work side by side with him on expanding the brand throughout California. My plan thereafter would be to open up my own educogym® at some stage but what may pan out over the next 12 months might be completely different. My passion and the faith I have in educogym® is what brought me to the stage I am at today. If I can impart my transformation to other people,
that would be something amazing for me.
